That\u2019s how we continue to achieve extraordinary things in extraordinary locations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:inherit\">\n<p style=\"text-align:left\"><b>Job description:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span>Overall, Job Purpose <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide technical support to plant operations by collection of plant data and measurements,<\/li>\n<li>Implementing and applying thought solutions to achieve and exceed plant KPI\u2019s of safety, milling rate, throughput, recovery, concentrate grade, efficiency and costs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span>Specific Job Responsibility <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide technical support to plant operations by providing daily strategies to ensure optimal plant performance.<\/li>\n<li>Collect data through control systems historians and sampling to make ad-hoc decisions.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate routine tasks of conducting checks on key operating parameters with the process operations team.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate plant and\/or lab test work aimed at optimizing the operation in terms of safety, cost and performance.<\/li>\n<li>Long term analysis and optimisation of flotation operating strategy.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all safety incidents are addressed &amp; reported promptly.<\/li>\n<li>Provide sound reporting on plant operations and improvement projects.<\/li>\n<li>Assess opportunities for improvement and drive their implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Work as intermediate between Process technical and Geology groups.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in Metallurgical study, development, testing and analyses of designs, processes or procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring business outcomes are achieved whilst maintaining alignment with FQM Trident Limited values &amp; behaviors.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the data provided by the OSAs (online analyzers).<\/li>\n<li>Participate in shutdown tasks including Ball Mill inspections, flotation cell inspections, cyclone checks and sampler inspections.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze plant poor performance to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in troubleshooting, crushing, milling and services problems when required in the back shifts.<\/li>\n<li>To perform any other task as instructed by Senior Metallurgist Flotation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span>Job Specific Competencies.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong understanding of complex metallurgical information, process improvement and control strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Good cognitive and analytical skills for identifying process shortfalls, bottlenecks and implementing metallurgical testing.<\/li>\n<li>Affinity to supervise technical research, direct and train metallurgical engineers and technicians.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and able to assemble data and provide clear and accurate operational performance reports in both an upward and downward direction.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity in SCADA\/PCS 7 and PI Process book is an added advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span>Key Job Attributes<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Good leadership and motivational skills and get work done through others.<\/li>\n<li>Strong drive and personal sense of ownership and accountability.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to maintain self-discipline within a stressful environment.<\/li>\n<li>Be enthusiastic and proactive in manner.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span>Experience required to perform in this job<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 2 years\u2019 experience in mineral processing plants, preferred as a metallurgist.<\/li>\n<li>Preferred copper and nickel sulphide flotation, large plant, modern and automated process exposure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span>Qualifications<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grade twelve (12) certificates.<\/li>\n<li>Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related or degree in similar fields is preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Registered as a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).<\/li>\n<li>All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align:inherit !important\">\n<p style=\"text-align:inherit !important\">\n<p style=\"text-align:left !important\">Visit our website and register for instant job alerts at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/firstquantum.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com\/en-US\/First_Quantum_Careers\/login?redirect&#061;%2Fen-US%2FFirst_Quantum_Careers%2FjobAlerts\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff\"><u>First Quantum Careers<\/u><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left !important\">Follow us for the latest news at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/first-quantum-minerals-ltd\/careers\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a> <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:inherit !important\">\n<p style=\"text-align:left !important\">If you are already a First Quantum employee, log into your <b>Workday<\/b> account &gt;
