description:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Overall Job Purpose <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>The Sports and Events Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of sports programmes, leagues, tournaments, and events particularly in communities around the mine.<span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>He\/she will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of all events and sports-related activities, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for the community and other participants, and promoting the organisation&#039;s mission and values. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Specific Job Responsibility <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Programme Planning and Development:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement sports programmes, leagues, and events based on community needs and interests.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with stakeholders to identify programme goals, objectives, and target demographics.<\/li>\n<li>Research and evaluate new sports activities and trends to enhance community participation.<\/li>\n<li>Manage and help develop various clubs, inclusive of equipment, coaching \/ training, nutrition, local- and international participation.<\/li>\n<li>Actively work with the Events and Sports coordinator consultant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Participant Recruitment and Engagement:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Promote sports programmes and events through various marketing and outreach channels.<\/li>\n<li>Recruit participants, teams, and volunteers for leagues, tournaments, and special events.<\/li>\n<li>Provide excellent customer service to participants, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Community Participation and Outreach:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establish and maintain partnerships with local schools, community centres, and other organisations to increase participation and access to events and sports programmes.<\/li>\n<li>Organise community outreach events, clinics, and workshops to introduce sports activities to surrounding communities and promote healthy lifestyles.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders to identify barriers to participation and develop strategies to address them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Logistics and Operations Management:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate facility bookings, equipment rentals, and other logistical arrangements for sports and events activities.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee the scheduling of games, practices, and events, ensuring efficient use of resources and facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise staff, referees, coaches and volunteers during programme sessions and events, providing guidance and support as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Safety and Risk Management:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement and enforce safety protocols, rules, and regulations to ensure the well-being of the community, participants and staff.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify and address any safety hazards or maintenance issues.<\/li>\n<li>Respond to emergencies and incidents in accordance with established protocols and procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Financial Management:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and manage budgets, tracking expenses and revenues to ensure financial sustainability.<\/li>\n<li>Explore funding opportunities, sponsorships, and partnerships to support sports programmes and events.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor programme performance and provide regular reports and updates to the necessary stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with the Events and Sports Consultant to plan, implement, and improve sports programmes and events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Job Specific Competencies <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strategic thinking and planning.<\/li>\n<li>Strong operational and project management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Financial and budget management.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Must have excellent customer service skills<\/li>\n<li>Self- motivated with the desire to promote and market.<\/li>\n<li>Communication and stakeholder management.<\/li>\n<li>Strong marketing and promotional skills.<\/li>\n<li>Event planning and coordination<\/li>\n<li>Sports programme and community engagement knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Strong organisational and communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Stakeholder relationship management<\/li>\n<li>Health, safety, and risk awareness<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)<\/li>\n<li>Must community-based programmes within a reputable organisation, with proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with event management systems, scheduling tools, and inventory\/equipment tracking systems is an added advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lead, coordinate, and motivate teams, including coaches, referees, and volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in community engagement and stakeholder management, particularly with schools, local organisations, and community groups.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with sports or club management systems\/software is an added advantage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full Grade 12 School Certificate.<\/li>\n<li>Diploma or \u00a0Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Physical
